If you’re in an especially festive mood this weekend I recommend you stop in Breckenridge for the 59th annual Ullr Festival.

Pronounced OOOL-er, this signature event celebrates the Norse god of snow. Taking place December 8th-10th locals and visitors of all ages will find the event filled with fun and quirky events for the whole family.

Here are a few highlights:

Ullr Parade Down Main Street

Show off your best Viking costumes and support for our local community!

Crowning of the Ullr King and Queen

Ullr Fest royalty is chosen for their unique contributions to our community and (of course) for their love of snow!

Food/Drinks/Fun?

FOOD  While you’re enjoying the festival fun this is also a great opportunity to take in Breckenridge’s rich culinary scene. With dozens of new restaurants, you can ensure that you’ll find what you’re looking for. Whether that is Italian, French, Mediterranean, Asian, Indian, or Southern BBQ – there’s something for all tastes!  Upscale, family-friendly, or quick take-out; Breckenridge has it all. But keep in mind that most local restaurants (excluding fine dining) don’t take reservations; on a busy weekend, you can expect a short wait time.

DRINKS If you’ve spent the day on the slopes you’re probably looking for a great place to kick back and enjoy après-ski. Après-ski is a French term from the 1950s. Literally translated it means “after ski” or “after skiing” and refers to the activities that take place after you’ve spent the day on the mountain (usually an early happy hour!). Apres hours vary by the establishment but are traditionally between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm. If you take a stroll down Main Street in Breckenridge you’ll find numerous bars offering a lively happy hour scene during the week. If you’re looking for a late nightcap you’ll also find that on Main Street. Whether you’re in the mood for a high-end cocktail, live music, or just a comfortable seat at the bar, there are multiple options for each.

SHOPPING Most of us are still shopping for Christmas gifts – even late into the month of December. And what better way to support our local communities this holiday season than shopping local? If apres-ski isn’t quite your pace I encourage you to grab a cup of cocoa and take a stroll down Breckenridge’s Main Street. With over 200 storefronts, you’ll find everything from art galleries, antiques, jewelry, bookstores, boutiques, and everything in between. No matter who you’re shopping for you’re certain to find the perfect gift at any one of these colorful and unique businesses.
