Welcome to the Summit and Park County Community Insider for the month of February. It’s hard to believe that we’re a full month into the year 2022 already. Of course, ski season is in full swing, but the month of February also offers some fun alternatives to a day on the mountain. Here are a few that we thought you might find interesting. The Banff Mt. Film Festival
The Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center (BOEC) will be hosting a live viewing of the Banff Mountain Film Festival. This event brings you several films that will inspire and inform viewers as they explore some of the highest peaks and mountain cultures from all corners of the world.
There are two options for viewing the 2022 Banff Mountain Film Festival. BOEC is hosting the live event on Friday and Saturday, February 25 and 26 at the Riverwalk Center in Breckenridge. Doors open at 6pm with films set to begin at 7pm. If you prefer to watch from the comfort of your own home you can purchase tickets for the Virtual Banff Film Festival online and watch anytime between now and October 23, 2022.
Winter Zipline Tours
Though it is typically a warm-weather activity, winter ziplining has been slowly increasing for some time in Summit and Park Counties. Maybe you’ve done a zipline course in the summer months, but don’t let that deter you from taking the plunge this winter. The views of the Continental Divide and blankets of snow across Summit County on this 6-line course is something to see. in Breckenridge! The tour sits on 2,000 acres and is guaranteed to give you a great experience. IT features more than 50 historic gold mines, many of which are visible as you go through the course.
Winter Zipline Tours are offered at 9:00 am, 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm. Complimentary transportation is offered from Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper Mountain, Frisco, Silverthorne and Dillon, Colorado on a limited basis.
The operation also offers a convenient shuttle for easy winter-time access from the base area to the top of the course. And don’t worry, getting from platform to platform is easy too!
Fine Dining for Valentines Day
The Briar Rose Chophouse and Saloon has been serving some of the best aged beef and fresh wild game in their landmark downtown restaurant for decades. Their newly renovated dining room is the perfect spot for a romantic dinner for two and the historic back-bar makes an eye-catching centerpiece in the Saloon where guests have the option of dining from the full menu or choosing something from the Saloon’s “small plates” menu.
Legends is one of Breckenridge’s newer fine dining restaurants featuring high-end steaks, authentic Italian, and creative and delicious cocktails. The black and white photos that line the walls of the dining room display some of the many legendary men and women who helped shape Colorado’s history. With fantastic food and service, this is a great option for an unforgettable dining experience.

Hearthstone is located in a 120-year-old Victorian home and offers hand-cut steaks, wild game, and fresh seafood.
