Summit & Park Counties November Community Insider

Thank you for reading our latest Summit & Park Counties Community Insider. Winter in Summit and Park Counties is a special time of year. People from all over the world flock to our mountain paradise to take advantage of the natural beauty and outdoor recreation available here. Our area boasts 30 mountain peaks that rank among the highest in the state, thousands of skiable acres of land, hundreds of trails, several terrain parks, and the tallest chairlift in North America. It really is a winter paradise.

Opening Day on The Mountains

Summit County is home to four world-class ski resorts: A Basin, Breckenridge Ski Resort, Keystone, and Copper Mountain.

A Basin and Keystone are already open for the season. Copper Mountain is set to open on November 22nd and the Breckenridge Ski Resort is opening for the 60th anniversary season on November 12th. I know many in the area are excited to get back on the slopes. These resorts are considered some of the best in the state and have runs for riders of all abilities.

You can purchase your season pass or individual tickets through their websites. Most plan to stay open through Memorial Day at the end of May (weather permitting) so there’s plenty of time to enjoy a weekend on the mountain.

Scenic Cocoa & Private Horse Drawn Sleigh Rides

Another winter activity that will be available later this month is the horse-drawn sleigh rides offered by 2 Below Zero. They take you dashing through the mountain snow in a comfortable sleigh. The ride is suited for every member of the family and is complete with hot cocoa, homemade cookies, and schnapps for the adults. If you’ve never experienced our mountain paradise this way before you won’t regret it. The one-hour, round-trip sleigh ride might just become a new holiday tradition.

If you’re looking for the perfect way to spend an evening (and want a little adventure as well) you could also opt for a dinner sleigh ride. Provided by the same company, this nighttime trip takes you to their backcountry camp where they serve dinner the old-fashioned way – in a lantern-lit (and heated) tent. The meal is three-course and they even feature musical entertainment.

Winter Tubing at The Frisco Adventure Park

If a day in the mountains seems a little too daring for you you could head over to the Frisco Adventure Park where they offer snow tubing and a beginner-level ski and ride hill. They also host several events, including races for children and adults. The park is located only a mile from Main Street in Frisco and is a popular destination for families. The tubing hill features several lanes to choose from, so there’s something to fit every rider’s level of adventure!
