August Summit & Park County Community Insider

The month of August is here and summer is quickly passing! There’s so much to do in this area that it can be difficult to fit it all in while the weather is this nice. Here are a few upcoming events in Summit and Park Counties that we’re excited about, maybe we’ll see you there!

The Copper Triangle

The Copper Triangle is Colorado’s classic alpine cycling event, benefitting the Davis Phinney Foundation. The foundation is a non-profit with a mission to help people with Parkinson’s. It was founded in 2004 by Davis Phinney, the former professional bicycle racer and Olympic medal winner. In its 15th year, the Copper Triangle has raised over $1.5 million dollars for the foundation through registration fees and fundraising. The race consists of a 79-mile loop that crests three Colorado mountain passes for a total elevation gain of 6,500 feet. It’s not for the faint-hearted! But it is well worth it. With breathtaking scenery and winding mountain roads, this will definitely be a ride you will never forget.

Following the Saturday race there will be live music in Center Village. You can register for the Copper Triangle and read all about the Davis Phinney Foundation by visiting this website.

Bluegrass and Beer Festival

Have you ever played the banjo? Me neither. But they’re pretty fun to listen to! On August 7 & 8, the town of Keystone is bringing back its Bluegrass and Beer Festival for the 24th year of string bands, craft beer, mountain merchandise, and delicious food.

This is the longest-running beer festival in the state of Colorado and has been a fan favorite for years. Although last year the event was postponed and this year it is scaled back there’s still something for everyone, even the kids. With a chalk zone, kids scavenger hunt, and crafts as well as twelve different bands across three stages there’s enough to keep the entire family entertained.

Musical acts include The People’s Key, The Pine Beatles, Local Folk, Bottlerocket Hurricane, Tara Rose, and the Real Deal, Timber!, Many Mountains, and so many more!

20th Annual Breckenridge August Art Festival

Did you make it to the Lake Dillon Art Festival last month? If you missed it there’s still a chance to see nationally ranked artists in 13 fine art categories at the upcoming 20th annual Breckenridge August Art Festival. This is a free and family-friendly event at the Village at Breckenridge and Main Street Station on the South end of town. With three full days to enjoy the show, you’ll have plenty of time to take it all in. August 5, 6th, and 7th – mark your calendar!
